HA602HB PMA Pour Point Depressant
CAS: 68459-84-7
Molecular formula: -(C2H5CCOOR)n-
This pour point depressant (PPD) is a high-performance polymethacrylate-based additive designed to significantly enhance the low-temperature properties of lubricating oils. By co-crystallizing with wax through its alkyl side chains, it modifies the growth direction of paraffin crystals, forming smaller and more uniform structures. This effectively lowers the pour point of lubricants—for example, adding just 0.5% can reduce the pour point of transformer oil from -25 °C to -40 °C.
In addition to excellent pour point reduction, this product improves oil fluidity at low temperatures, enhancing pumpability and lubrication in extreme cold conditions. It also provides thickening functionality, increasing the viscosity index (VI) of lubricants by 6–8 units and offering a thickening efficiency of up to 15.76%. With a kinematic viscosity of 3000–4000 mm²/s at 100 °C, it is suitable for a wide range of base oil formulations.
This additive is free of hazardous substances, has a high flash point (>160 °C), excellent thermal stability, and maintains consistent performance during long-term storage at temperatures up to 45 °C. Its liquid form ensures safe handling and avoids dust contamination. It is compatible with Group I, II, III base oils and PAO, making it ideal for formulating aviation hydraulic oils, gear oils, and multi-grade internal combustion engine oils.
When used in combination with other additives such as olefin copolymers (OCP), it can reduce the required dosage of viscosity index improvers. For instance, 0.5% HA602HB can replace 0.8–1% of conventional VIIs.
