Zinc Propyl Octyl Dithiophosphate is prepared from propanol and octanol. It has fine antioxidation, anti-corrosion, antiwear properties and thermal stability.

This product is composed of mixed alkyl chains of propyl (C3) and octyl (C8).It has fine antioxidation, anti-corrosion, antiwear properties and thermal stability. The short-chain propyl provides high reactivity, while the long-chain octyl enhances high-temperature stability and oil solubility. Its decomposition temperature is slightly lower than that of the butyl-octyl type (approximately 190-200℃), but it is still suitable for medium to high-temperature applications. The short-chain propyl allows for faster release of active sulfur/phosphorus, enabling more rapid formation of a protective film under dynamic friction, making it suitable for high-impact load scenarios. Moreover, the short-chain structure significantly improves low-temperature oil solubility and dispersibility, making it suitable for cold environments (such as -30℃ to 120℃). Its extreme pressure performance is superior to that of butyl-octyl ZDDP, but its long-term effectiveness at high temperatures is slightly weaker. Its antioxidant capability is slightly inferior to that of butyl-octyl ZDDP and requires the use of auxiliary antioxidants.

 

2. APPLICATIONS

 

Low-Temperature Engine Oil: Suitable for gasoline/diesel engines in cold regions or those subject to frequent start-stop cycles, providing rapid protection for low-temperature start-up components (such as camshafts).

High-Impact Industrial Lubrication: For instantaneous high-load scenarios such as stamping machines and forging equipment, where a quick anti-wear response is required.

Low-Temperature Grease: Used for bearings or mechanical equipment in cold regions (such as low-temperature lithium-based grease).

Metalworking Fluids: For short-duration high-friction cutting/drawing processes, enhancing machining efficiency.

 

3. RECOMMENDED DOSAGE

 

The recommended dosage is from 0.5% to 2.5%.
