Product Description
CAS: 68511-50-2
Molecular formula: C8H16S3
Isobutylene sulfide is a colorless to light yellow liquid with a distinctive rubber odor. Its sulfur content typically ranges from 40% to 50%. It has excellent chemical stability, including good resistance to ozone, acids and alkalis, chemical corrosion, and high-temperature stability. It exhibits outstanding extreme pressure activity and thermal stability in lubricating oils, especially in grades prepared by the high-pressure method, where the sulfur content can reach around 45%. It has a slight corrosive effect on metals such as copper, and it is necessary to use metal protectors in a timely manner. It has high solubility in mineral oils and can be well combined with other additives such as phosphorus compounds to enhance lubrication performance. The high-pressure method used in the production of this product has the characteristics of low raw material consumption and less waste, which is in line with the trend of green environmental protection. Compared with the traditional atmospheric pressure method, it has the advantages of low viscosity, low odor, and low cost.
Rubber Industry:Used as a cross-linking agent in rubber molding, it can significantly enhance the strength, wear resistance, and high-temperature stability of rubber. It is also used in the production of tapes, sealants, and waterproofing agents.
Gear Oil: Used as an extreme pressure anti-wear agent for blending medium and high-grade automotive and industrial gear oils.
Industrial Lubricating Oils: Applied in anti-wear hydraulic oils, metal working fluids (such as cutting oils), and rock drilling oils.
Grease: Improves the extreme pressure performance of grease, extending the service life of equipment.
Plastics Industry: Used as a plastic additive to improve the weather resistance and mechanical properties of plastics.
Other Fields: In the field of catalysts, it is used for specific chemical reactions due to its high catalytic activity and long service life. It can also be used as a component of adhesives.
Recommended dosage: 0.2-5.0%
