1. DESCRIPTION
CAS: 59656-20-1
Molecular formula: C26H50N2S5
Thiadiazole derivatives as lubricant additives have significant environmental advantages and multifunctional properties. Its ashless formula does not contain harmful elements such as phosphorus and zinc, avoiding the toxic effects of traditional additives (such as ZDDP) on the three-way catalytic converter, and meets the environmental protection requirements of modern lubricants with low ash and low sulfur and phosphorus, while the oxidation products will not form sludge or deposits, effectively reducing the risk of environmental pollution and equipment wear. In terms of functional properties, these compounds form a chemisorption film with the nitrogen and sulfur atoms in the thiadiazole ring and the metal surface, which significantly improves the oil film carrying capacity and gives the lubricant excellent extreme pressure anti-wear properties, especially suitable for gear oils, hydraulic oils, and other high-load conditions; its antioxidant properties slow down the oxidative deterioration of the oil by inhibiting the free radical chain reaction and reduce the growth of the acid value, which is prominent in the high-temperature scenarios of turbine oils and engine oils; moreover, it can also be used in the oxidation process to reduce the risk of environmental pollution and wear of equipment. In addition, it can neutralize the corrosive effect of active sulfur on copper alloys, protect bearings, valves and other key components, and realize the synergy of multiple functions of metal corrosion inhibition. The compact molecular structure gives it high thermal stability (flash point of some products ≥130℃), and it can still maintain stable performance under extreme working conditions such as high temperature, high speed and vacuum, and can be applied to aviation lubricants and high temperature industrial equipment lubrication. Thiadiazole derivatives in liquid form can be uniformly dispersed in base oils without dilution, which is easy to operate and avoids dust contamination, and can synergistically enhance antioxidant and cleaning properties when compounded with phenolic and amine antioxidants, e.g., ZDDP can reduce the risk of hydrolysis when used in combination with ZDDP, which demonstrates excellent compatibility.
2. APPLICATIONS
Engine oil: Replaces phosphorus-containing antioxidants (e.g., ZDDP), used in gasoline/diesel engine oils (recommended additive level 0.03%-0.1%), inhibits carbon deposits on piston rings and prolongs oil change intervals.
Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF): Improve high temperature oxidative stability and maintain smooth shifting.
Industrial Lubricants
Gear oils/hydraulic fluids: Provide extreme pressure protection in heavy-duty gears and hydraulic pumps, and reduce viscosity abnormalities caused by oxidation (e.g., add 0.1%-0.5% to industrial gear oils).
Turbine oils/heat transfer oils: used in high temperature circulating systems (e.g. generator set turbine oils) to inhibit deposit generation and extend equipment life.
Specialty Lubricants
Aviation lubricant: maintain lubrication performance in wide temperature range and high vacuum environment, enhance the reliability of aviation engines and precision instruments.
Grease: Enhance high-temperature stability after addition, suitable for bearings, chains and other long-term high-temperature operation of equipment (additive amount 1.0%-2.5%).
Metal working fluid: Used in cutting oil, quenching oil, etc. It inhibits the generation of oxidized by-products during processing, reduces tool wear and improves machining accuracy.
3. RECOMMENDED DOSAGE
Friction modifier: 0.01-0.5%
