HA408 Molybdenum Dialkyldithiocarbamate

It is a liquid additive used as a friction modifier in engine oils and other lubricants, featuring molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) in the form of a dithiocarbamate complex.

Product Description

1. DESCRIPTION

CAS: 253873-83-5
Molecular formula:(MoSO)2 (S2CNR2)2

This product has excellent anti-friction and anti-wear properties. It decomposes on the friction surface to generate nanoscale molybdenum disulfide (MoS₂) and sulfides, forming a low-friction chemisorption film that significantly reduces the friction coefficient (to 0.05-0.08). It also reduces wear by filling in the indentations on the metal surface. It maintains excellent performance even at high temperatures (250°C), and the layered structure of the generated MoS₂ (thickness 0.625nm) can enhance extreme pressure load-bearing capacity. It contains no phosphorus elements, avoiding the poisoning of automotive exhaust catalysts by traditional phosphorus-containing additives (such as MoDTP), and meets the trend of low-ash lubricants. It is compatible with Group II/III base oils, and has low odor and low corrosiveness (copper corrosion rating of 1), making it suitable for non-ferrous metal processing. It also has antioxidant properties, inhibits sludge formation, and extends oil change intervals. Its thermal decomposition temperature is as high as 320°C, making it suitable for high-temperature applications. It can be compounded with other additives (such as ZnDTP) to synergistically enhance anti-wear and low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI) inhibition capabilities.

2. APPLICATIONS

Engine oil: Used in low viscosity high grade engine oils (e.g. 0W-16, 5W-30) to improve fuel economy and inhibit low speed premature ignition (LSPI), recommended additive level 0.5%-0.7% (molybdenum content 500-700mg/kg).
Industrial lubricants: Gear oils, hydraulic oils and guide oils, enhance extreme pressure performance and reduce energy loss due to friction.
Metal working fluids: Stamping oils, cutting fluids, etc., to protect the surface of non-ferrous metals (e.g. aluminum alloys, copper alloys) from sintering and wear.

3. RECOMMENDED DOSAGE

Friction modifier: 0.2-3.0%
