1. DESCRIPTION
CAS: 8006-54-0
Molecular formula: MgC34H68O2
Lanolin magnesium soap forms a dense protective film on metal surfaces through its polar molecular structure, effectively isolating moisture, oxygen, and corrosive substances, and significantly inhibiting metal oxidation reactions. Experiments have shown that it can increase the salt spray testing time to 72 hours in pure oil-based systems, exhibiting excellent rust prevention properties for both ferrous metals (such as steel) and non-ferrous metals (such as copper and aluminum), especially when combined with rust inhibitors such as sulfates and benzotriazoles. Compared to traditional barium containing rust inhibitors, lanolin magnesium soap does not contain heavy metal barium and meets environmental regulations such as low VOC and non-toxic risks. It is suitable for food grade lubricants (certified by NSF H1) and products exported to European and American markets. At the same time, it is non flammable, non corrosive, and has high storage and use safety. Lanolin magnesium soap does not become cloudy or precipitate at low temperatures of -15 ℃, and remains stable in high temperature environments (below 75 ℃), making it suitable for extremely cold or high temperature conditions. Its dissolution temperature is low (only 60 ℃ is needed to completely dissolve into a brownish red transparent liquid), and it exhibits good oil solubility in mineral oil and synthetic oil, making it easy to disperse uniformly. When combined with rust inhibitors such as sulfonates, it can significantly improve salt spray performance and wet heat protection ability, while dispersing colloids and particles in the oil to avoid sludge deposition
2. APPLICATIONS AND RECOMMENDED DOSAGE
Inter process rust preventive oil: used for short-term rust prevention of metal workpieces (rust prevention period ≥ 7 days) to prevent moisture erosion during the processing.
Long term storage oil: suitable for long-term storage of ships and heavy equipment (with a rust prevention period of more than 2 years), meeting the requirements of MIL-PRF-16173 and other standards.
Hydraulic oil/gear oil: protects gears and bearings from corrosion in high humidity environments such as mining machinery and port equipment, with excellent water separation performance (centrifugal separation water layer volume up to 1.7 mL).
Compressor oil/turbine oil: inhibits the generation of acidic substances under high temperature and high pressure conditions, and reduces the frequency of shutdown maintenance.
Food machinery lubricant: certified by NSF H1, used for rust protection of food processing equipment to avoid the risk of heavy metal contamination.
Wind power gear oil: prevents gear pitting failure in high humidity and low temperature environments at sea, compatible with PAO synthetic oil system.
Solvent based rust preventive oil: When combined with low flash point solvents (such as D40), the salt spray time can reach more than 120 hours.
Pure oil anti rust oil: compensates for the performance shortcomings of ordinary additives in solvent-free systems, significantly improving salt spray and wet heat testing performance.
3. RECOMMENDED DOSAGE
The recommended dosage is from 0.1% to 2.0%.
