HA C10 Neutral Calcium Sulfonate

This product is mainly used for industrial lubricants and can replace barium based rust inhibitors such as barium dinitronyl naphthalene sulfonate.

Product Description

1. DESCRIPTION

CAS: 70024-69-0
Molecular formula: (RC6H4SO3)2Ca·(CaCO3)x

Neutral alkylbenzene sulfonate calcium forms a dense protective film with the metal surface through sulfonic acid groups (-SO3-), isolating moisture and oxygen. At the same time, calcium ions (Ca2+) react with metal oxides to form a passivation layer (such as CaFe2O4), significantly enhancing rust prevention ability. Compared with barium alkylbenzenesulfonate, its biggest advantage lies in the absence of heavy metal barium, which meets environmental requirements and is particularly suitable for export to European and American markets or for scenarios that require food grade certification such as NSF H1. This additive has weak alkalinity (TBN<6 mgKOH/g), which can neutralize acidic substances (such as sulfuric acid and organic acids) generated by lubricating oil oxidation, and disperse colloids and carbon particles in the oil through surface activity characteristics, preventing sediment formation and reducing indirect corrosion risks. Its dispersibility is superior to traditional barium salts, especially stable under high temperature and high pressure conditions. Its ash content is ≤ 0.1%, suitable for modern low ash lubricating oil standards (such as API SP/SN grade), and has no damage to post-treatment equipment such as three-way catalysts. Meanwhile, it has excellent thermal stability (flash point ≥ 170 ℃) and can maintain performance in environments ranging from -30 ℃ to 150 ℃, making it suitable for extremely cold wind electric gearboxes or high-temperature turbine oil systems. Neutral calcium alkylbenzenesulfonate, with its core advantages of environmental friendliness, non toxicity, low ash content compatibility, and wide temperature range stability, has gradually replaced barium alkylbenzenesulfonate as the mainstream choice for modern rust prevention additives, especially in high-end automotive oils, food grade lubricants, and green industrial fields.

2. APPLICATIONS

Low ash engine oil: used for multi-stage oil products such as 0W-20, 5W-30, etc., to suppress wet rust on the crankcase (ASTM D665B test rust rating ≤ 1 level), suitable for National VI emission and hybrid vehicle models.
Automatic transmission fluid (ATF): protects the clutch steel plates and gears, and extends the life of the shifting mechanism.
Hydraulic oil/gear oil: protects metal components in high humidity environments such as mining machinery and port equipment, with excellent water separation performance (centrifugal separation of water layer volume up to 1.7 mL, emulsion layer only 0.1 mL).
Metal processing fluid: used for cutting fluid, stamping oil, etc., to form a temporary anti rust film (anti rust period ≥ 7 days).
Food grade lubricant: certified by NSF H1, used for rust prevention in food machinery to avoid the risk of heavy metal contamination.
Wind power gear oil: prevents pitting failure in high humidity and low temperature environments at sea, and is compatible with synthetic oil systems such as PAO.
